CrossFit is a fitness methodology that incorporates Constantly Varied Functional Movement performed at High Intensity (CVFMHI). Let’s break that definition down a bit….
- Constantly Varied – We do a different workout each day known as the WOD (Workout of the day). We mix weightlifting, bodyweight gymnastics and traditional cardio exercises to challenge our clients each day.
- Functional Movement – There will be no arm curls in front of a mirror. Our exercises focus on real world, whole body movements – the type of movements we all face in everyday life. These include squatting, lifting, running, jumping and throwing.
- High Intensity – Our CrossFit classes last one hour but the actual WOD portion of the class could be under 10 minutes long.
While we are doing all that we also try to have fun. Our sessions are run as a class. Each session lasts about an hour. We will start with a good warmup. We will work on a new skill or do some strength work. Then we move on to the WOD. Once the WOD is done we will do some stretching while cooling down from the workout. While you are performing the WOD or working on a strength session you will be coached on proper movement and taught how to do any of the movements that are new to you.
